The Simon Bolivar Award goes to former President Alvaro Uribe

Former President of Colombia Alvaro Uribe Vélez was honored in Washington, D.C. with the Simón Bolívar award. The event took place on November 12, 2010 at the Hotel W where the Hispanic American Center for Economic Research (HACER) gave the award to His Excellency Mr. Álvaro Uribe Vélez for his leadership promoting freedom, safety and democracy to Colombia and the Americas.

During the event former President Uribe Vélez also received honors from
Florida House of Representatives David Rivera, Ambassador Otto Reich, Ambassador Roger Noriega, Oscar Morales founder of a million voices against FARC, and Mariana Casabianca, Georgetown University student from Colombia.

Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat wrote on his opinion column comparing McCain/Obama campaigns and their relationship with Hugo Chavez explaining the different ideology of their direct advisors. Sen. McCain has Otto Reich who knows Chavez having worked as Ambassador in Venezuela in 1986 and witnessing the deterioration of the nation. Amb. Reich understand the thug thinking of the infamous dictator. Sen. Obama has Daniel Restrepo as advisor who says that Obama will have "coffee" with Chavez!

In my personal opinion, as an American citizen I have not decided who to vote for as U.S. President. Perhaps the best ticket would be McCain/Biden since I worry sick about Senator Barack Obama and Gov. Sarah Palin. Sen. Obama's close net officials have been visiting Chavez for the last few years, and Gov. Palin is a sports hunter killing innocent animals with pleasure. Also, Sen. Obama has not learnt yet that the current highly educated political government officials in Colombia are friends of the United States, and are doing an excellent job keeping peace with intelligence.

A series of events have Venezuelan citizens in tears. It seems that Hugo Chavez’s mental instability threatening and wreaking havoc in this abused nation treating citizens as hostages has reached its very limit.

Despite being a major energy exporter, Venezuela is currently mired in economic recession and suffering from record-high levels of inflation, a dismal condition known as “stagflation.” As the country’s economy deteriorates on a number of fronts, the government continues to struggle with an electricity crisis and worsening food shortages that are threatening to undermine support for the ruling party in the lead-up to September legislative elections. The Venezuelan government has tried to impose a range of currency controls, from currency devaluations to parallel market crackdowns, in an effort to resuscitate the economy. But the country’s distortionary and unsustainable currency regime not only is forcing more of the economy underground (leading to higher inflation and shortages of basic goods), but it is also catalyzing an elaborate money-laundering scheme that now appears to be spiraling out of control, thereby weakening the regime’s grip on power.

Wasting money for whims rather than provide to Venezuelans

Vladimir Putin paid a flash visit to Hugo Chavez in Caracas where new bilateral accords were made including Chavez spending lots of money for huge projects including a nuclear power plant, and space technology development. "We could even install here a satellite launcher and a factory. We are already doing it with China, but Russia offered support to Venezuela to have its own industry for the use of outer space," said Chávez on April 1 at night. (Poisson d’avril?, April Fools?)

Chavez needs to be reminded that while he spends billions of U.S. dollars to satisfy his weapons dreams in Venezuela today citizens have a terrible quality of life taking in consideration the out-of-control city violence where tens of thousands have died since Chavez took office. Further, there is rationalized electricity because of the dry season affecting the Gury dam, and everyone has only a few hours a day of energy for consumption. There is never enough water which worsens during the dry seasons. There are constantly shortages of medicine, basic foods, and a large percentage of the population lives in poverty. The public services such as police, fire and ambulance while they exist do not provide the assistance necessary for citizens. Out-of-control fires destroy rain forest national parks. Domestic animals including dogs and cats wonder the streets homeless, or neglected by their owners. Good Samaritans of all social classes take on adopting pets to provide basic shelters using their own limited resources, but there is no government program to spay & neuter nor provide wellbeing for these animals.

Chavez has been taking advantage of all financial resources of Venezuelans and after ten years has just realized that there are hundred of thousands of homeless domestic animals in the nation. Recently, an uncompassionate animal control law took over in the nation, but major amendments must be made to make it an animal protectionist law.

Chavez is the worst enemy to Venezuelan citizens and should be ashamed that all of his programs are to benefit his own selfish goals neglecting all Venezuelan living beings!

Reading about Chavez's threats when closing his referendum campaign yesterday reminds me of the typical behavior of a domestic violence abuser:

The other news making worldwide reports is the “scientific” exhumation of Liberator Simon Bolivar by Hugo Chavez at midnight. Those who know about Santeria and Voodoo claim that most likely Chavez out-of-desperation proceeded to exhume a few days ago the ashes of Bolivar’s lover, and the body of Simon Bolivar himself. The excellent news about this type of behavior is that if indeed Simon Bolivar has been awaken then Venezuelans can be reassured that Hugo Chavez will be imprisoned faster than ever thought. Simon Bolivar detested thugs, and fought to free Venezuelans from abusers.

This month's spectacular rescue by Colombian commandos of 15 hostages cast an international spotlight on the miseries inflicted by the terrorist group responsible for the kidnappings, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Much of the FARC's strength is derived from its protection of an illicit narcotics trade which channels cocaine to North American communities. But the recent hostage rescue has also drawn attention to the real role played by Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez in using the FARC to destabilize the government of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, his regional archrival.

However, Hugo Chavez’s insults against opposition presidential candidate Henrique Capriles Radonski backfired since his supporters flooded the Internet with pictures of  M.A.J.U.N.C.H.E. slang for jerk as Chavez called him repeatedly during a speech to the nation.  Supporters created their own version of   M.A.J.U.N.C.H.E: Movimiento Activo de Jovenes Unidos Nacionalmente Contra Hugo en Elecciones. Yo soy Majunche!  (Active movement of nationally united youth against Hugo in the elections.  I am Majunche!)

Venezuela's Political Disaster - March 3, 2008

Dear Journalists,

Chavez's catharsis may be the reason why he sent 10 military battalions to the border with Colombia, and is allegedly manipulating Ecuador's President Rafael Correa to send troops. I would not be surprised if Bolivian President would join in Chavez and Correa. Word is that the infamous leader killed had several young girls, including 9 year olds, as sex slaves, and was wearing a Rolex watch. Of course, those issues would be of lack of importance to Chavez's misogynists supporters. Perhaps, Chavez has lost touch with reality, or was actively trying to overthrow President Uribe.

While Hugo Chavez continues his admiration for Fidel Castro the fact is that socialism may only work in advanced nations, and not under an abuse of power regime. Reports from Venezuela show that the country is not a great place to say the least where neglect every where is evident. Just this week a total out-of-control forest fire destroyed El Avila, and the individual who reported it before it became uncontrollable is allegedly receiving threats from Chavez’s government staff. This is when the T-shirt that college students wear stating “If you think education is expensive what about ignorance?” makes a lot of sense.
