Venezuela's Political Disaster - June 9, 2007

Dear Journalists,

Venezuelans seem to be outraged about how certain citizens turned face, and have been supporting Chavez as is the case of the owner of Venevision. Attached below please find link to article "Hugo and the Media Kings" written by Thor Halvorssen, President of the Human Rights Foundation, article published in the New York Post on June 6:

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06062007/postopinion/opedcolumnists/hugo__the_media_kings_opedcolumnists_thor_halvorssen.htm

http://www.humanrightsfoundation.org/nypost.html

Next is link to article The Truth Behind Chavez's Media Obsession written by Washington Post Journalist Marcela Sanchez which clarifies some doubts:

La verdad tras la obsesión de Chávez con los medios

Following up on the Chavistas students that went to the National Assembly to debate the oppostion students, Globovision found that the so called "Chavista students" some are Chavez's employees as reported by Daniel Duquenal on his blog:

Next please find link to article written by former Venezuelan Congressman Raúl Leoni responding to Ernesto Villegas, Chief Executive Officer, of Venezolana de Television, one of Chavez's television networks concerning the cancellation of Radio Caracas Television's broadcast license.

What happened?

To whom it may on concern:

Those of you who have been receiving my mailings since 1999 may recall that my main concern after infamous Chavez was elected president was about people we all have known for many years had turned face and went on to support Chavez.

The outrage that their friends felt was the fact that most of the people including attorneys, judges, diplomats, journalists, and just about every profession, had expressed complete different attitudes and approaches in life, thus supporting Chavez was inexplicable.

My concern has always been and remains if those poor souls have been acting under duress, or were just following the money and the better position carrot. I have always asked that question, sadly the response to some cases if that those people are just ineffable.

Hopefully, after "Chavez's por ahora" is gone for good all the questions will be answered.

Venezuela's Political Disaster - June 7, 20007

Dear Journalists,

Venezuelan students spoke today at the Chavez's National Assembly and gave intelligent, emotional and refreshing speeches as is the one from student Douglas Barrios from Universidad Metropolitana:

Please watch 10-minute video:

Report:

http://english.eluniversal.com/2007/06/07/en_pol_art_students-take-the-fl_07A881169.shtml

Please read text in Spanish at:

Witnesses report that yesterday buses of students arriving in Caracas were blocked passage through the tunnels by Chavez's police and supporters on motorcycles.

Sadly, when the students arrived today to the National Assembly were harassed by Chavez's supporters. It seems that Chavez's may be paying for this type of services. Please read link below of 2006 text of internal minutes from PDVSA (Venezuela's oil company) ordering employees to wear read, and other actions, and failure to do so would cost them their jobs. The employees were to be paid 100,000 bolivares for participation:

Radio Caracas Television (RCTV) is having their regular shows live on location at the Caracas's plazas.

http://elobservador.rctv.net/

Venezuelan women are scheduled to march in Caracas on Sunday, June 10 to protest Chavez's abuse of power, the closing of RCTV, to demand the freedom of jailed students and political prisoners.

Please know that Chavez has seized twice all media in Venezuela today, and has been speaking for hours. I wonder if Chavez is under the influence of stimulants in order to talk so much, or if he is having a nervous breakdown. What ever Chavez's mental health is the seizing of the media is an abuse of power!

Please know that in the Opposition/Chavistas clash that took place May 30 in Maracay as shown in the video link below, a young female student was attacked and severely beaten by two Chavista men. The student's father who was also protesting went to her rescue with another man, and they were over powered by several Chavistas who attacked them. One of the rescuers suffered heart attacks during the confrontration:

H E L P

Someone very dear to me who is Heaven at this time told me about my blog that what we are doing is writing and talking, but what is needed is a strong wipe out hand against the deranged dictator.

However, even though Venezuelans have been protesting by marching, writing, and taking diplomatic and peaceful actions, the infamous dictator who is loaded with their money has them as hostages. Every day Venezuelans lose more freedom and quality of life.

Why is no one helping? The international organizations issue statements, and they send observers. But, no one can see Chavez's tricks and corruption! Now, Chavez is out in the open denying basic human rights to all citizens.

Venezuelans can not defend against Chavez by themselves. Venezuelans do not have weapons, and have failed with the ability to seek justice. What about international justice?

Marchers were very excited today when members of Chavez's police told them that they are backing the students up and are morally supporting the protesters! Then, suddenly Chavez's thugs arrived and the police officers had to play their role.
