Dear Journalists,

Journalists from Venezuela are reporting that Chavez is raiding the residence of Guillermo Zuloaga who is one of the owners of television station Globovision. The report states that Chavez has seized all television and radio networks at this time while his officers are raiding the home of Mr. Zuloaga. The news can not reach the press. Is Chavez unable to pay the debts? May 18, 2009

The following analysis written by Jean-Pierre Langellier and published in Le Monde explains that Chavez's expropriations are taking place because he is unable to pay the debts exceeding seven billion dollars. Thus, he takes over the enterprises:

Venezuela's Political Disaster - May 17, 2009

Dear Journalists,

Free Aung San Suu Kyi

Chavez insults everyone with no thought of how it will affect those who he verbally attacks on a regular basis. At the same time, Chavez can not stand anyone's freedom of speech especially from those who disagree about his behavior and abuses against human rights. Thus, Chavez has ordered the closing of Globovision television network. One of Chavez's recent complaints is that Globovision reported on May 4 that there had been a 5.4 earthquake, and citizens were awaken in the middle of the night. As I understand from Journalism 101, journalists have the duty to report and inform the public. As a blogger, I was notified immediately after the earthquake of April 5, and May 4 when loved ones told me that they were scared, and had to leave their houses for safety.

A group of Venezuelan journalists reacted to Brazil's acceptance of Venezuela to Mercosur by questioning the Foreign Minister of Brazil, Ambassador Celso Amorim about Venezuela's eligibility to join Mercosur under Chavez's leadership. The journalists ask questions considering several facts as can a nation who eliminates private property join Mercusur?
