Venezuela's Political Disaster - November 5, 2006

Dear Journalists,

I need to recuperate from the deep emotions during the anticipation and announcement of the Venezuela's presidential election results. I certainly hope that Chavez from now on would look after the middle class, and after all Venezuelan citizens, and to assure that everyone in Venezuela has a way to improve their quality of life, and not just his immediate supporters.

Chavez should also stop the hatred in his infamous speeches, and stop the abuse of power like seizing the media networks and his infamous threats, and behave himself as the person responsible for 26 million Venezuelans.

Chavez should also give back the name República de Venezuela, and stop changing names of the abused nation at will. Perhaps these improvements would ease some of the tensions that he has created by destroying the nation that so many people love.

Venezuela's Presidential Election Results?

Dear Journalists,

Chavez's electoral results have announced him the winner as most of the Chavez's owned polls have been reporting for the last few days:

9:05 pm - In its first bulletin, the CNE announced that Chavez won the presidential election with 61.35% while Rosales obtained 38.39%. The opposition is expected to contest the result.

Did anyone see the pictures of the opposition marches? I can not believe that Chavez has won with 61.35 percent of the votes!

By Alexandra Beech

Please note a one hour time difference between New York and Caracas
"7:20 pm est. In perhaps the first credible report of irregularities by an accredited electoral observer, Education Assembly member Leonardo Carvajal said two electoral officials had authorized him to denounce in the media that at several voting centers, armed members of the National Armed Forces had forced electoral workers to keep centers open. At one center, a soldier bearing a machine gun ordered the center to remain open until 9 pm, violating electoral laws.
In other news, audits are taking place around the country.
6:55 pm est. Speaking on behalf of opposition candidate Manuel Rosales, Tal Cual Editor Teodoro Petkoff, said that while the electoral day proceeded peacefully, questionable incidents had taken place after official voting, such as attempts to impede audits and to remove the voting materials illegally. Petkoff said that "centers which have been closed must remain closed. They cannot be reopened." He called on the National Elections Council and the National Armed Forces to enforce the law, protecting "voters' rights." He said "the auditing process is slow…patience is required."
