Venezuela's Political Disaster - July 19, 2008

Dear Journalists,

Venezuelans marched today in Caracas protesting against kidnappings as reported in the following link:

http://www.eluniversal.com/2008/07/19/pol_ava_nueva-conciencia-nac_19A1812799.shtml

There is a similar march scheduled tomorrow in Bogota, Colombia organized by Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos as announced in his Facebook group:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6886088215

Venezuela has a new Ambassador to the Organization of American States. Hopefully, the political disaster may dissipate with new educated leadership as previously reported on my blog on April 19:

Ambassador Roy Chaderton Matos Presents Credentials as Permanent Representative of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the OAS

There is a rumor circulating the Internet that infamous Chavez has an audited $3 billion in cash in foreign accounts. Hummm, and I was wondering about what is his assigned salary as infamous president of abused Venezuela.

List of Chavez's gifts to foreign leaders, etc.

Dear Journalists,

As stated on my posting dated July 15, 2008, it is outrageous that while there are many Venezuelans struggling financially, and citizens suffering all sorts of government abuses, and unfair treatment, the following is a list of some of Chavez's gifts to foreign countries:

Venezuela's Political Disaster - July 15, 2008

Dear Journalists,

While Venezuelans are suffering huge inflation, inability to trade because of blocks from infamous Chavez's government services like "Comision Administrative de Divisas" (Cadivi
http://www.cadivi.gov.ve/), and other financial abuses, Chavez donates to families in Washington, D.C. energy saving light bulbs as reported in the following link:

http://www.noticias24.com/actualidad/?p=15997

The Noticias 24 article informs that Chavez's donations to the poor in other countries exceed US$100M. Just imagine how many hospitals could be built in Venezuela with 100 million dollars, how many families could be helped out of financial despair, and/or how many single mothers could have financial aid for their children's education with the same amount of money.

Chavez has to assure the well being of Venezuelan citizens, and then donate to the poor as needed.

Venezuelans need help from developed governments and international organizations to restore democracy and end corruption.

Winning the war against FARC

Winning the war against FARC

By Diego Arria & Richard Brand

Monday, July 14th 2008, 4:00 AM

This month's spectacular rescue by Colombian commandos of 15 hostages cast an international spotlight on the miseries inflicted by the terrorist group responsible for the kidnappings, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Much of the FARC's strength is derived from its protection of an illicit narcotics trade which channels cocaine to North American communities. But the recent hostage rescue has also drawn attention to the real role played by Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez in using the FARC to destabilize the government of Colombian President Alvaro Uribe, his regional archrival.

Venezuela's Political Disaster - July 13, 2008

Dear Journalists,

Congratulations to Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza. for winning the Miss Universe 2008 contest held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

http://www.noticias24.com/gente/?p=3184
http://www.globovision.com/news.php?nid=93011

It was interesting to watch Miss Colombia, and Miss Venezuela as the finalists. Because of the achievements of the Colombian government to enforce democracy, I would have also cheered for Miss Colombia if she had won. Miss Venezuela's family were unable to travel to Vietnam and they stated personal reasons kept them from joining their daughter at this event. Humm, I wonder if infamous Chavez's government services like "Comision Administrative de Divisas" (Cadivi
http://www.cadivi.gov.ve/) blocked the parents from attending the contest.

Colombian President Uribe and infamous Chavez met in Venezuela as reported by the following press links:

Venezuela's Political Disaster - July 5, 2008

Dear Journalists,

Still amazed about the fantastic rescue of Ingrid Betancourt, and other hostages including three Americans, I am pleased to add the link below written by Washington Post Columnist David Ignatius:

http://newsweek.washingtonpost.com/postglobal/david_ignatius/2008/07/ingrid_betancourt_what_fearles.html

While most of us are elated by the excellent news of the long awaited rescue of hostages there are still about 700 FARC hostages including many Venezuelans. In the meantime, there is anger, and frustration by disinformation released by Chavez's officials as reported earlier in my blog.

Next link is to opinion article "Venezuela - autopista de la droga" written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat commenting about the Telegraph article published last week "Hugo Chavez's Venezuela 'supplies half of Britain's cocaine:"

Links clarifying disinformation July 5, 2008

The following links are circulating the Internet in order to refresh peoples' memories, and point out recent disinformation allegedly released by Chavez's supporters:

Chavez continues to abuse human rights of Venezuelan citizens. Earlier today Army General Angel Vivas was imprisoned for questioning the abusive use of Chavez's motto "Patria, Socialismo o Muerte" within the military as reported by Noticias24:

The Rival Chávez Won't Permit

By Jackson Diehl
Monday, June 30, 2008; Page A11
The Washington Post

Defenders of Hugo Chávez like to argue that there is no alternative to the Venezuelan caudillo other than the feckless and unpopular politicians who preceded him in the 1990s. The simple refutation of that canard is Leopoldo López, the 37-year-old mayor of central Caracas, whose boyish good looks only underscore the fact that he represents a fresh generation.

Please read on this article which clearly describes the situation of abuse in Venezuela:

Venezuela's Political Disaster - June 28, 2008

Dear Journalists,

Fabulous Dominique de Villepin visited infamous Hugo Chavez in Caracas as reported in the link below:

http://www.noticias24.com/actualidad/?p=15541

Those who went to school with de Villepin in Caracas are demanding questions like "is this the same Dominique de Villepin who chained himself up at Colegio Francia in May 1968?" and other questions concerning his interests in the city where he spent years of his adolescence. While I also went to school at the same time in Caracas, but at the American School wonder if some of my brainstorming issues to solve the situation in Venezuela would cross M. de Villepin's mind. Alors:

- Would Chavez seek treatment for his coca leaves, and alleged cocaine use in a French institution? Once, his mental issues are solved then there could be hope to chat with the infamous leader. Please read article from the United Kingdom:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/southamerica/venezuela/2205687/Hugo-Chavez%27s-Venezuela-%27supplies-half-of-Britain%27s-cocaine%27.html

- Would Venezuelans who are FARC hostages be released?

- Would Chavez allow regular citizens the right to trade in the world markets? Would infamous government services like "Comision Administrative de Divisas" (Cadivi
http://www.cadivi.gov.ve/) be a 21st century entity and free of abuse?

Sadly, even with all the money from the oil revenues, Venezuela is still decades behind in the way routine transactions like banking are processed. Questions regarding Chavez's decadent, and wacky way of leading give no hope for a better quality of life to Venezuelans as indicated by Journalist Per Kurowski in his article De Arnold para Venezuela:

http://opinion.eluniversal.com/2008/06/26/opi_769_art_de-arnold-para-venez_26A1723279.shtml

The next link is a follow-up article concerning Hezbollah in Venezuela written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat:

Venezuela's Political Disaster - June 21, 2008

Dear Journalists,

The news about alleged Chavez's support for terrorists seem to be just about every where. The following link is to editorial from Investor's Business Daily " Hugo of Hezbollah:"

http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=298857188881027

The following is article written by Journalist Eleonora Bruzual who has a Radio Talk Show in Miami, Florida, and who has been denouncing Chavez's support for named terrorists:

"Tienen a los terroristas resollándoles en la nuca y se sorprenden cuando no pueden seguir haciéndose los locos... (Jueves 19 de junio de 2008)"

http://www.gentiuno.com/articulo.asp?articulo=6658

What is so aggravating is that while Chavez's rules by whims, and sympathy for thug groups, Venezuelan citizens are suffering severe foreign exchange controls, inept government services like "Comision Administrative de Divisas" (Cadivi
http://www.cadivi.gov.ve/) , and other controlling agencies that block freedom of trade, and financial well-being. So, all the money goes to Chavez to do as he pleases while keeping Venezuelans as financial hostages.

Venezuelans need help from developed governments and international organizations to restore democracy and end corruption.

US commences designating Venezuelans

18 June 2008
The US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has named two Venezuelan nationals, and their two controlled businesses, as Specially Designated Global Terrorists, alleging that they are fundraisers and facilitators for Hizballah, and that one of the individuals named has traveled to Iran, whilst the other has been a diplomat in Syria and Lebanon. This is understood to be merely the first recent OFAC designation of Venezuelan nationals and entities.

Venezuela's Political Disaster - June 14, 2008

Dear Journalists,

In memory of Tim Russert

There is an over all malaise living in Venezuela surrounded by unfairness where Chavez, his family, and those he likes including infamous foreign leaders have financially benefited from his position in power. However, honest workers, and those without political power have to struggle to trade, run their businesses, and keep up with inflation knowing that Chavez is allegedly supporting infamous groups like FARC, et al.

Le Monde published a surprising analysis written by Jean-Pierre Langellier concerning the current financial situation in Venezuela where experts may agree with this findings:

Au Venezuela, la révolution est en marche, mais pas l'économie, malgré la manne pétrolière

http://www.lemonde.fr/economie/article/2008/06/14/au-venezuela-la-revolution-est-en-marche-mais-pas-l-economie-malgre-la-manne-petroliere_1058184_3234.html#ens_id=1058265

And right-to-the-point comments from Isabel Lara published in The Washington Post:

Falling for Hugo Chávez

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/06/13/AR2008061303250.html

and, Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat published in El Universal:

Chávez que se devuelve se desnuca

http://opinion.eluniversal.com/2008/06/11/opi_685_art_chavez-que-se-devuel_11A1659521.shtml

Oddly enough Chavez does have a few individuals working for him who could guide him to snap out of his deranged behavior. Perhaps, that is what is happening with Chavez's new approach to improve relations with Colombia, and the United States.

http://english.eluniversal.com/2008/06/13/en_ing_art_chavez-asks-the-colo_13A1678327.shtml

However, many people suspect that Chavez's recent speeches are because he may know that the International Court of Justice may be waiting for him following Interpol's findings.

http://www.unionradio.com.ve/Noticias/Noticia.aspx?noticiaid=243931

The following link is to article "Cubazuela y el artículo 1º de la Constitución" written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat which is important for international readers to be aware of Chavez's pathetic plans:

http://opinion.eluniversal.com/2008/06/04/opi_685_art_cubazuela-y-el-artic_04A1639239.shtml

Venezuelans pay $0.12 a gallon of gas, and have to endure a deranged thug leader as president. While here in the United States we are currently pre-planning our trips to the grocery stores, and other errands, and facing major issues in our own upcoming U.S. Presidential election. How long are the gas price increases will go on?

Harvard Internationalist Pedro Mario Burelli explains in his blog article "On the Delayed Consequences of Wreck Ball Hugo: The High Cost per Barrel of Appeasing Autocracy" the roots of the gas prices issue, and consequences.
