Chavez living his own selfish glory
Hugo Chavez seems to be amusing himself with the new toys he is buying from Russia in the amount of US$5B with complete disregard of the wellbeing of Venezuelan citizens.
Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat wrote in his opinion article La espiral armamentista the amount and type of weapons that Chavez is currently buying:

Chavez is investing big time in Nicaragua, and as Chavez continues to invest on his own projects Venezuelans are facing major neglect.

Currently there are groups of Venezuelan citizens stuck at European closed airports while the volcanic cloud passes who have sent urgent requests to consulates to enable their credit cards spending limits. Venezuelans have strict foreign exchange controls and are unable to use their credit cards; thus unable to find lodging and food.
Venezuelans have been enduring the last several days low flying military aircraft exercising over Caracas most likely for the upcoming April 19 celebration of declaration of independence. The noise is border line to the speed of sound, and many are complaining that they need to keep windows open to avoid broken glasses.
Former Venezuelan President Carlos Andres Perez sent a press release as reported in the links below :
CAP repudió las celebraciones con motivo del 19 de abril

Chavez continues to publicly insult Venezuelan citizens who oppose his abusive regime, and used a complete seizing of networks for hatred broadcast mocking Human Rights Watch and Reporters Without Borders:
