RE: Venezuela's Political Disaster - October 9 2005

Dear Journalists,

Attached herewith please find link to article written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat reporting the embarrassing recent participation of Chavez in Brazil where he did not understand the purpose of the diplomatic meeting nor the document that he had to sign creating outrage between the participants:

The fact that Chavez does not really understand certain diplomatic meetings because of his lack of training reminds me of a very uncomfortable situation that I had to face in Venezuela in 1993 at a social event. I was following the news of the U.S. helicopter crash in Mogadishu, Somalia where American soldiers were dragged through the streets when I overheard laughter and insults towards Americans. I approached the group to hear the joke when I learnt that Venezuelan college professors were ridiculing Americans. I asked them what was so funny about having human beings been dragged and violently attacked by a mob and the professor who does not speak English nor has ever visited the United States responded with further insults against Americans. The heated argument between one of the professors and me increased and it ended when I realized that the professor does not understand American culture nor compassion. I imagine that the hatred created by Chavez in Venezuela against the United States is just his lack of knowledge and pre-conceived ideas which make him err on a frequent basis.

Cordially,

Oil $$$, Food shortages and lack of government

Revised
Dear Journalists,
Otto Reich, former U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela, wrote the following article in the Wall Street Journal published on February 11, 2013:
In Venezuela, Plenty of Oil, Not Enough Food
Venezuela is going through a terrible ordeal where many are suffering a desperate lack of supplies. While many people oppose the Hugo Chavez regime, there are elite groups who support him and call themselves socialists, or communists or whatever. I have seen individuals who belong to those groups trash Americans, the United States, and developed and organized countries. The odd thing about these individuals is that they are all educated, live in beautiful houses, love good wine, good food, elegant people, drive imported automobiles, and travel abroad at will. In 2005 I wrote a blog posting about an argument I had with a college professor in Venezuela that represents the same issues involving those elite groups:
Hugo Chavez’s government does not seem to match European socialism, nor even communism as a regime. His administration seems to be just a corrupted group of individuals ransacking the nation.
Cartoon by Rayma:
The International Court of Justice, busy at it is, should make time to prosecute Hugo Chavez, and his thugs who survive him, for fraud if the alleged algorithms and open violation of the vote are true.
Venezuelans need help from world leaders, and the International Court of Justice, to resolve abuse of power in Venezuela and restore democracy.
