Venezuela's Political Disaster - January 4, 2007
Attached below please find link to article written by Ambassador Adolfo Taylhardat commenting on the announced closing of RCTV network in Caracas. Mr. Taylhardat emphasizes that the closing of RCTV violates human rights articles 57 & 58 of Venezuela's Constitution, and explains Chavez's abuses against freedom of speech:

El Universal.com reports that "The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has ruled in favor of reporters, workers and managers of private TV channel Radio Caracas Television (RCTV). The action is related to a complaint filed against the Venezuelan state for violation of freedom of expression, personal integrity, judicial rights, due process and judicial protection, under the American Convention on Human rights."

At the same time, Chavez fired his Vice President, Jose Vicente Rangel, who is a journalist, and had for many years his own television show criticizing government abuses prior to turning face and joining Chavez. I wonder if JVR had a moment of sanity and fought against the closing of RCTV. Next please find link to Reuters article "Venezuela's Chavez fires justice min and vice-pres" published on The Washington Post.

All the media cooperation in reporting the human rights abuses taking place in Venezuela will be greatly appreciated.
