Venezuela's Political Disaster - September 9, 2006

To the Honorable Human Rights Organizations:

Opposition candidate, Manuel Rosales, in Venezuela is reporting attacks against his life.

"I want to tell Venezuela that if something happens to me, if I am killed during any of those ambushes that are being laid, this was ordered by (President Hugo) Chávez," single opposition candidate Manuel Rosales claimed after alleged Chavez' followers attacked a march in western Caracas.

I do not know Mr. Rosales; however, it is a matter of fact that Chavistas have a Modus Operandi of intimidating like hyenas. During the regular Opposition marches held in Caracas last year there were reports of peaceful marchers armed with a flag and a whistle were surrounded by Chavistas. Some marchers reported that fireworks were thrown to them, and other violent abuses against them.

Other public gatherings opposing Chavez were dispersed as shown in the following pictures:,,861526,00.html

International cooperation is needed in Venezuela to enforce the democratic process.
